The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has scheduled a special meeting ahead of IPL 2025. Captains from all ten IPL teams will take part, along with their team managers. This important gathering will be held on Thursday, March 20, at the Cricket Centre in Mumbai. The meeting will focus on explaining new rules for the upcoming season, ensuring that all teams are well-prepared.
First-Time Captains to Attend
This year’s meeting is crucial because many teams have appointed new captains. It will be their first opportunity to interact with BCCI officials in person. Such face-to-face meetings help establish a strong connection between team leaders and the board.
Traditional Photo Session at Taj Hotel
After the meeting, all captains will head to the Taj Hotel for a photo session with IPL sponsors. This pre-tournament tradition happens every year and generates excitement among fans. These images will be widely used in IPL advertisements, promoting the upcoming season.
Unlike previous years, where the meeting was usually held in the city of the opening match, this time, Mumbai is the chosen venue instead of Kolkata. However, Kolkata remains the host for the first IPL 2025 match on March 22.

Fresh Leadership in IPL 2025
Several teams have introduced new captains for the season:
- Delhi Capitals: Axar Patel (captain), Faf du Plessis (vice-captain)
- Royal Challengers Bangalore: Rajat Patidar
- Kolkata Knight Riders: Ajinkya Rahane
- Punjab Kings: Shreyas Iyer
- Lucknow Super Giants: Rishabh Pant
Retained Captains
While some teams made leadership changes, others have retained their existing captains:
- Sunrisers Hyderabad: Pat Cummins
- Mumbai Indians: Hardik Pandya
- Chennai Super Kings: Ruturaj Gaikwad
- Rajasthan Royals: Sanju Samson
- Gujarat Titans: Shubman Gill
Players Join Teams for Training
Many captains have already joined their squads, despite recently participating in the Champions Trophy. Hardik Pandya arrived in Mumbai just 40 hours after winning the tournament. Similarly, Pat Cummins has reached Hyderabad and is ready for the full IPL season, even with the World Test Championship final scheduled for June.
Teams have begun their practice sessions, focusing on batting, bowling, and fitness. Coaches and players are also working on match strategies to get into peak form.
The IPL 2025 season kicks off on March 22, with an exciting opening match between RCB and KKR in Kolkata. Fans are eagerly waiting for the action to begin.
